Research Events: Workshops, Conferences & Symposia

Archimedes Research Unit contributes to scientific exchange through events it organises, co-organises or supports, and through the participation of its researchers in organising and scientific committees. The events below bring together researchers, students and practitioners across AI and its supporting disciplines.

AI Community & General Artificial Intelligence

• Symposium — Greeks in AI 2026. The symposium brought together Greek AI researchers and practitioners from around the world. Archimedes contributed through General Co-Chair Maria Vakalopoulou, organising committee members Kostas Daniilidis, Efstratios Gavves, Maria Papadopouli and Sotiris Tsaftaris, and advisory board member Timos Sellis. (LINK)
  
  • Archimedes Feast — An Evening with Archimedes (2026). Part of Greeks in AI 2026, the event took place at the Eugenides Foundation on 15 July 2026. It presented Archimedes’ vision and activities, researchers’ experiences and career development, connections with industry, and future directions. Christos Papadimitriou gave a keynote talk and then Archimedes students presented their research. (LINK)
• Symposium — Greeks in AI 2025. Co-organised with Archimedes and connected the Greek AI community through research presentations, mentoring and discussions on collaboration between academia and industry. Archimedes Head Timos Sellis moderated the panel on the Greek AI ecosystem. (LINK; Athena RC report)
• Conference — SETN 2024 — 13th Conference on Artificial Intelligence. Archimedes contributed to the conference through the organisation and support of its Responsible Artificial Intelligence workshop (ReAI), with Evaggelia Pitoura and Danae Pla Karidi among the workshop organisers. Archimedes researcher Panayiotis Tsaparas also served on the conference programme committee.

Algorithms, Complexity & Foundations of AI

• Workshop / Colloquium — ACAC — Athens Colloquium on Algorithms and Complexity: 
  
  • ACAC 2026. Supported by Archimedes, the workshop took place at the National Technical University of Athens on 25–26 August 2026. Archimedes researchers contributed to its organising committee and scientific programme, covering algorithms, computational complexity and related fields. (LINK)
  • ACAC 2025. Archimedes supported the workshop, held at the National Technical University of Athens on 25–26 August 2025. Its researchers contributed as organisers and speakers, supporting the exchange of recent and ongoing work in theoretical computer science. (LINK)
  • ACAC 2024. Supported by Archimedes, the workshop provided a forum for researchers to discuss preliminary findings and recent results in algorithms and computational complexity. (LINK)
• Workshop — Archimedes Workshop on the Aspects of Clustering (2024). Hosted at Archimedes in September 2024, this workshop comprised a series of lectures by Archimedes-affiliated researcher Vaggos Chatziafratis. It covered clustering and hierarchical clustering, optimisation techniques, metric and non-metric embeddings, and open research questions. (LINK)
• Workshop — Archimedes Workshop on the Foundations of Modern AI (2024). Organised by Archimedes at the National Technical University of Athens on 3–4 July 2024, the workshop brought together researchers in learning theory, optimisation, algorithmic game theory, and approximation and online algorithms. Its organising committee included Archimedes lead researchers. (LINK; Archimedes report)
• Symposium & workshop — CG Week 2024 / 40th International Symposium on Computational Geometry (SoCG 2024). The programme included an Open Archimedes Workshop on 10 June 2024, featuring Constantinos Daskalakis on connections between online learning and game theory, chaired by Ioannis Emiris. (LINK)
• Workshop / Colloquium — ACAC 2023 — 18th Athens Colloquium on Algorithms and Complexity. Supported by Archimedes, the workshop brought together researchers in algorithms and complexity. Archimedes researchers Dimitris Fotakis, Evangelos Markakis, Aris Pagourtzis and Christos Tzamos served on the organising committee. (LINK)

Game Theory, Economics & Security

• Conference — GameSec 2025 — Conference on Game Theory and AI for Security. Supported by Archimedes, the 16th edition took place at the National Technical University of Athens on 13–15 October 2025. It explored how game theory and AI can address security, privacy and trust, with Archimedes researcher John S. Baras serving as a General Co-Chair. (LINK)
• Conference — ACM Conference on Economics and Computation (EC 2025). Archimedes-affiliated researcher Vasilis Syrgkanis served as a Local Co-Chair, contributing to the organisation of this conference at the intersection of economics and computer science. (LINK)
• Workshop — Archimedes AGT Afternoon Event (AAGTA 2026). Hosted at the Archimedes Amphitheatre on 4 February 2026, this workshop focused on algorithmic game theory and AI. Its programme included keynote talks by Paul Goldberg and Christos Papadimitriou and presentations by Archimedes lead researchers. (LINK)
• Workshop — 2025 Archimedes Workshop on Algorithmic Game Theory. Co-organised by Archimedes and the Athens University of Economics and Business, the workshop took place on 15–16 July 2025. Its organising and scientific committee comprised Archimedes lead researchers Georgios Amanatidis, Georgios Christodoulou, Dimitris Fotakis, Evangelos Markakis and Alkmini Sgouritsa. (LINK)
• Workshop — WALE 2024 — Workshop on Algorithms for Learning and Economics. Held in Kefalonia on 17–21 June 2024, WALE explored algorithms for economics and machine learning, including mechanism design, learning in games and trustworthy AI. Its organisers included Archimedes-affiliated researchers Katerina Sotiraki, Christos Tzamos and Manolis Zampetakis. (LINK)

Neural Networks & Weight Space Learning

• Workshop — NeurIPS 2026 Workshop on Neural Network Artifacts as a New Data Modality. This forthcoming workshop explores neural network artifacts as data for model analysis, learning and reliability. Giorgos Bouritsas is listed on the organising committee with an Archimedes/Athena RC affiliation. (LINK)
• Workshop — ICLR 2025 Workshop on Weight Space Learning — Neural Network Weights as a New Data Modality. Held in Singapore on 27 April 2025, the workshop examined how neural network weights can be represented, analysed and generated. Giorgos Bouritsas, affiliated with Archimedes and the University of Athens, served on its organising committee. (LINK)

Responsible AI & Society

• Workshop — ReAI 2024 — 1st Workshop on Responsible Artificial Intelligence. Supported by Archimedes and held at SETN 2024 on 12 September 2024, the workshop addressed fairness, transparency, privacy and the wider implications of AI. Archimedes researchers Evaggelia Pitoura and Danae Pla Karidi were among its organisers. (LINK)
• Panel / Local keynote — ACM FAccT 2025 — AI and Greece: Interdisciplinary Reflections from Past to Present. Supported by Archimedes and co-organised by Archimedes lead researcher Evaggelia Pitoura, this local keynote panel took place on 24 June 2025 at the Athens Conservatoire. It explored AI through historical, technical, ethical and social perspectives. (LINK)

Biomedical Imaging & AI for Health

• Symposium — ISBI 2024 — IEEE International Symposium on Biomedical Imaging. Held in Athens on 27–30 May 2024, the symposium brought together the biomedical imaging community. Maria Vakalopoulou, listed with an Archimedes affiliation, served on the organising committee in an awards role. (LINK)

Natural Language Processing & Dialect Resources

• Workshop — DialRes-LREC 2026 — Dialects in NLP: A Resource Perspective. Held on 16 May 2026 alongside LREC in Palma de Mallorca, this workshop focused on creating, documenting and using dialectal language resources. It was endorsed by Archimedes, with Antonios Anastasopoulos, Stella Markantonatou, Angela Ralli, Stavros Bompolas and Vivian Stamou listed as organisers with Archimedes affiliations. (LINK)

AI for Finance & Misinformation Detection (will be removed soon)

• Shared task at a workshop — COLING 2025 Financial Misinformation Detection Shared Task. Presented within the FinNLP-FNP-LLMFinLegal workshop at COLING 2025, the task focused on identifying financial misinformation and generating explanations. Sophia Ananiadou, listed with affiliations to the University of Manchester and Archimedes, was among the shared task organisers. (LINK)
