About Us
Archimedes, a research unit of the Athena Research Center, serves as a center of excellence for the Artificial Intelligence and Data Science community in Greece and beyond. Our vision is to position Greece as a leading player in AI and Data Science. Our mission is to build an AI Excellence Hub where the international research community can connect, groundbreaking ideas can thrive, and the next generation of scientists can emerge, shaping a brighter future for Greece and the world.
Our research is dedicated to advancing Artificial Intelligence and its supporting disciplines, including Algorithms, Statistics, Learning Theory and Game Theory. We place emphasis on the mathematical, algorithmic and conceptual foundations of these fields, while exploring applications across areas such as health, language, computer vision, robotics and responsible AI. Through our research areas, projects and publications, we connect fundamental scientific questions with real-world challenges.
Our community brings together lead, affiliated and contributing researchers, postdoctoral researchers, PhD students and interns. We are committed to nurturing the next generation of scientists through research, mentoring and opportunities to exchange ideas. Our educational activities include summer schools and initiatives that introduce younger students to AI and computational thinking. Talks, seminars, reading groups and scientific events create an open environment for learning and collaboration.
Innovation is closely connected to our research. We collaborate with universities, research institutions and partners in the public, private and non-profit sectors to explore how AI can address practical needs and benefit society. These connections support knowledge exchange, the development of new ideas and the application of research beyond the laboratory.
Whether you are a researcher, student or prospective partner, we invite you to explore our people, news and upcoming events, and get in touch to learn more about Archimedes and opportunities to collaborate.
