G-NAOE 2026: Generative Models for Ship Design

Dates
2026-10-20 - 2026-10-24
Venue
Hyatt Regency Houston West, Houston, Texas, USA

G-NAOE 2026 takes place on 20–24 October 2026 at the Hyatt Regency Houston West, Houston, Texas, USA.

Presenter: Panagiotis Kaklis (P. Kaklis)
Technical Session T1-3: AI and ML Application to Ship & Vehicle Design
Presentation T1-3-5: Generative models for ship design: Ship Hull Generation using GANs & VAE-PCTs: A Comparison Study

The presentation is based on research comparing generative adversarial networks (GANs) and a variational autoencoder with a Point Cloud Transformer (VAE-PCT) for generating ship hulls. The study examines the quality and diversity of generated hulls and their conversion into CAD models for early-stage ship design.
