Archimedes at the Academy of Athens Conference on Education

Archimedes members Christos Papadimitriou and John Pavlopoulos will take part in the panel “Education in the Era of Intelligent Systems” at the Academy of Athens Conference on Education, on Wednesday, 21 October 2026.
The conference is the fourth of five conferences organised by the Academy of Athens during 2026, as part of the celebrations for its 100th anniversary. Its programme brings together three discussions: educational reform, education and identities, and education in the era of intelligent systems.
The panel on intelligent systems will examine how AI is reshaping teaching and learning at different levels of education, from the perspective of both students and teachers. It will also discuss how to assess the long-term effects of AI on the learning process and on student wellbeing, as well as pedagogical approaches to today's AI tools and their educational potential.
Christos Papadimitriou, Donovan Family Professor of Computer Science at Columbia University and member of the Academy of Athens, will participate online. John Pavlopoulos, Assistant Professor at the Department of Informatics of the Athens University of Economics and Business and researcher at Archimedes, will join the discussion alongside researchers in school psychology, technology-enhanced learning and literacy education.
