ARCHIMEDES is a research unit of the Athena Research Center engaging scientists from leading Greek and international institutions on research in Artificial Intelligence and its supporting disciplines, including Algorithms, Statistics, Learning Theory, and Game Theory. We place emphasis on the mathematical, algorithmic and conceptual foundations of these fields, and we target several application domains. “ARCHIMEDES” comprises a vibrant community of senior researchers from Greece and abroad, early career researchers (postdocs), PhD students as well as postgraduate and undergraduate students working in various thematic research areas.

ARCHIMEDES will train a new generation of Greek scientists. It will organize systematic training and educational programs, will build bridges of systematic communication with important institutions abroad and will offer an opportunity to participate in high quality research to talented young scientists, thus dramatically accelerating their scientific development and offering them a promising career path

ARCHIMEDES will serve both basic and applied research and will relate to Greek, but also foreign University academic institutions and research centers. It hosts visiting researchers (faculty members and researchers) and funds PhD candidates and postdocs in the areas of Artificial Intelligence, Data Science and Algorithms.

is a research hub focusing on Artificial Intelligence, Data Science and Algorithms. It was founded in 2022 and is supported for its first four years of operation by the the NextGenerationEU Fund - Greece 2.0 initiative. Through “ARCHIMEDES” Greece is expected to be at the forefront of science, in a field of knowledge whose importance is constantly increasing and now has multifaceted applications across the spectrum of economy, society, industry, etc.
