Yorgos Pantis
Research Interests:
Yorgos' research interests lie in the interface of the foundation of Machine Learning with Statistics and Probability Theory.
Short Bio:
Yorgos holds a 4-year bachelor’s degree in Mathematics with a focus on Statistics from the University of Patras, where he graduated in the top 1% of his class and received numerous awards. He later continued his studies at the University of Oxford, obtaining a fully funded 1-year master’s degree in Statistics. After that, he spent almost three years working on Natural Language Processing and Optimization at the Technical University of Denmark, Athena Research Centre, Czech Technical University in Prague, and the Max Planck Institute. The projects he was involved in focused on the intersection of Large Language Models and Optimization with History/Privacy, and Deep Neural Networks, respectively, culminating in two publications in EMNLP 2022 and the journal Computers & Security.
He is currently a Ph.D. student at the University of Athens, working under the supervision of Christos Tzamos on theory-based Machine Learning methods with applications in Optimization, Combinatorics, and Learning Theory.
