SHORT BIO
I am Professor of Linguistics-Psycholinguistics at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece. I work on language acquisition and language disorders (developmental and acquired), combining theoretical linguistics with language assessment and study of typical and atypical populations (Developmental Language Disorder-DLD, Autism Spectrum Disorder-ASD, Williams syndrome, Down syndrome, aphasia, dementia). My recent research interests include the implementation of automated methods for the identification of “language biomarkers” for early identification of developmental language disorders (DLD, ASD) and for early diagnosis of neurodegenerative disorders like Alzheimer's Disease. I have been the PI/Scientific Coordinator of 15 funded research projects and have participated as a researcher in another 26. I have co-edited six volumes and have published two monographs and over 120 peer-reviewed papers in international journals, collective volumes, and conference proceedings. I have delivered over 60 invited talks and have participated with presentations in over 240 conferences. I am Associate Editor in Frontiers in Psychology – Psychology of Language and member of the Editorial Board of Aphasiology. I have been a reviewer for over 20 international journals and for funding boards, such as the Economic and Social Research Council-UK, the European Research Council, the Hellenic Foundation for Research and Innovation, and the Alexander S. Onassis Foundation. I have supervised 17 postdoctoral fellows, 21 doctoral dissertations, 36 MA theses, and over 120 BA dissertations. I have been an elected member of The Philological Society (2001) and of the Academy of Aphasia (2010). I am the Founder and Director of the Psycholinguistics and Neurolinguistics Laboratory at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens since 2017. |
