SHORT BIO

Ioannis Kakogeorgiou is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Archimedes/Athena RC, working with Prof. Nikos Komodakis.

He obtained his Ph.D. from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) under the supervision of Prof. Konstantinos Karantzalos. His doctoral research focused on Unsupervised Learning and Explainable AI in Computer Vision and Remote Sensing. Ioannis also holds a Master’s degree in Mathematical Modeling from NTUA and a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from the University of Athens (UOA).

Before his current position, Ioannis contributed as a researcher at NTUA on several EU-funded and national excellence/competitive research projects. Additionally, he has worked in the industry as a Data Scientist. He has co-authored several publications in top-tier conferences and journals, including CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, and the ISPRS Journal of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing.

Ioannis is active in the academic community, serving as a reviewer for leading conferences and journals such as CVPR, ECCV, IJCV, IEEE TNNLS, Neural Networks, WACV, IEEE GRSL, and IEEE Access.

At Archimedes Unit, he explores the integration of representation learning and generative modeling in computer vision and leverages recent advancements in NLP to enhance visual understanding and generation.
