SHORT BIO
George Korpas is a Senior Research Scientist at HSBC Labs and Research Fellow at the Optimization Group of the Department of Computer Science at the at the Czech Technical University in Prague mainly working in the interplay between quantum computation, optimization and artificial intelligence. He holds a PhD in Mathematics from Trinity College Dublin where he worked on topological quantum field theories, modular forms and topological invariants of 4-manifolds. Afterwards, he had short posts at the Champalimaud Foundation in Lisbon, the National University of Singapore and at the Czech Technical University in Prague. His research interests include quantum computation including quantum algorithms and quantum machine learning, mathematical optimization and semi-definite programming, as well as mathematical aspects of machine learning and deep learning.
