Charalampos Kontoes obtained his Diploma in Land Surveying and Rural Engineering at the National Technical University of Athens in 1985, BSc in Informatics from the Universite Paris VI Jussieu (France) in 1986, his MSc in Geography from the Universite Paris VI Jussieu (France) in 1986 and his PhD in Remote Sensing from the National Technical University of Athens in 1992. In 1991-1992, he was visiting scientist in the Marine Environment Group/JRC-EC-ISPRA (Italy). During 1993-1997, he worked as Surveyor Engineer. Since 1997, he works at the National Observatory of Athens as Assistant Researcher (1997-2000), Associate Researcher (2000-2003), Senior Researcher (2003-2010) and currently as Research Director at the Institute for Astronomy, Astrophysics, Space Applications and Remote Sensing.
