Angelos Georgakis
Angelos received the Electrical Computer Engineering (ECE) Diploma Joint degree (5 years), Bachelor & Master from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) in 2021, and since September 2022 he has been doing his Postgraduate Diploma (Master) at the Department of Informatics and Telecommunications and Physics of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, under the title of: Space Technologies, Applications, and seRvices - STAR and his specialization area is Space Applications and Services – SpaceDownstream.
After graduating, he did his Internship at the National Observatory of Athens (NOA), where he used Computer Vision and Data engineering methods and developed a model for intraday cloud cover prediction in Europe and North Africa. Part of this work was included in a publication under the title of: Three-Dimensional Cloud Motion Vector Modelling for Intraday Solar Energy Management Optimization, which was published at Applied Energy Journal.
After his internship, he worked at Irida Detection S.A. a company with a specialization in Bird Detection for Wind Turbine parks, as an R&D Software Engineer where he improved the existing Computer Vision algorithmic approaches, making better detections, and also developed new Python-based computer Vision models.
Since September 2022 I has been working as a Research Associate for various EU-funded research programmes, such as TERMINET and ev4u. His main research responsibilities involve the development of Python scripts for Data streaming pipelines, Machine and Deep Learning models for Predictive Maintenance, anomaly detection, time-series forecasting, and clustering purposes among others.
His research interests include Computer Vision, Object Detection, Machine Learning, Data analysis, Time-series forecasting, Remote Sensing, Earth Observation and climate modeling.
