Archimedes Workshop on the Foundations of Modern AI
The Archimedes Research Unit on Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, and Algorithms proudly organized the Workshop on the Foundations of Modern AI at the National Technical University of Athens, Greece, on July 3-4, 2024. This prestigious event gathered leading experts and researchers from diverse fields such as Statistical and Computational Learning Theory, Optimization, Algorithmic Game Theory, and Approximation and Online Algorithms.
The workshop commenced on Wednesday, July 3rd, with a warm welcome and registration. The day's sessions featured tutorials and keynotes, covering topics such as learning in games, non-clairvoyant scheduling, and learning from time series data using information-theoretic methods. Highlights of the first day included presentations on the Nisan-Ronen conjecture and the complexity of equilibrium computation in first-price auctions. An afternoon tutorial captivated the audience with insights into the maths and physics of machine learning. The second day continued more high-impact sessions, including a continuation of the machine learning tutorial. Keynote speakers shared their latest research on distortion in social choice and learning-augmented mechanism design. The workshop concluded with an in-depth tutorial on Latent Markov Decision Processes.
The workshop provided an excellent platform for top-tier researchers to exchange knowledge, foster collaborations, and explore the latest developments in foundational AI. Attendees left with new insights, potential partnerships, and a strengthened commitment to advancing their respective fields.
The success of this workshop was ensured by the dedicated organizing committee, comprising prominent Archimedes lead researchers.
Archimedes community looks forward to future events that continue to push the frontiers of AI, data science, and algorithm research. For more updates and detailed information about the workshop, visit the official website at https://www.corelab.ntua.gr/aifoundations2024/"
