Welcome to ARCHIMEDES, a vibrant research hub connecting the global AI and Data Science research community fostering groundbreaking research in Greece and beyond. Its dedicated core team, comprising lead researchers, affiliated researchers, Post-Docs, PhDs and interns, is committed to advancing basic and applied research in Artificial Intelligence and its supporting disciplines, including Algorithms, Statistics, Learning Theory, and Game Theory organized around 8 core research areas. By collaborating with Greek and Foreign Universities and Research Institutes, ARCHIMEDES disseminates its research findings fostering knowledge exchange and providing enriching opportunities for students. Leveraging AI to address real-world challenges, ARCHIMEDES promotes innovation within the Greek ecosystem and extends its societal impact. Established in January 2022, as a research unit of the Athena Research Center with support from the Committee Greece 2021, ARCHIMEDES is funded for its first four years by the EU Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF).
Archimedes is excited to announce its new partnership with the HSBC Quantum Technologies Group, part of HSBC Global Services. HSBC is one of the world’s oldest and most prestigious banks and has been at the forefront of innovation within financial services, ranking 7th globally in Advanced Computing and 2nd in Quantum Computing.
Archimedes researchers Vivian Stamou, Stavros Bompolas and Antonis Dimakis will deliver a workshop on “The Lasting Echo: How sounds shape the future of endangered languages” at TEDxEleusis on Sunday, 18th of May 2025.
Archimedes,Athena Research Center, Greece is excited to announce that Christos Papadimitriou's reception session at the Academy of Athens will take place on Thursday, May 29, 2025.Christos Papadimitriou is the Donovan Family Professor of Computer Science at Columbia Engineering, and has held faculty positions at UC Berkeley, Harvard, MIT, Stanford, UC San Diego, and the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), Greece.
Congratulations to Vasileios Moustakas, Vassilis Alimisis, Konstantinos Cheliotis, Anna Mylona, Paul Sotiriadis from Archimedes, Athena Research Center, Greece, and Zisis Foufas from the National Technical University of Athens, Greece,for winning the Best Student Paper and Presentation Award on Electronics, Circuits and Systems at the 14th International Conference on Modern Circuits and Systems Technologies (MOCAST) which took place in Dresden, Germany on 11-13 June 2025.
On Wednesday 25 June, 2025, from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm, at the Archimedes Amphitheatre (1 Artemidos Street, 15125, Marousi, Archimedes, Athena Research Center, Greece), Mihalis Yannakakis, Percy K. and Vida L. W. Hudson Professor of Computer Science at Columbia University, USA, will deliver an Archimedes Seminar on "Computing a Fixed Point of Contraction Maps in Polynomial Queries."
